Reichenbach

Reichenbach lies to the northwest at the foot of the Michelsberg, originally as a small street village along the watercourse of the stream of the same name, which reaches the Lauerflüsschen near Burglauer. Soon after its first documentary mention in 1243, which identifies the village as a Henneberg possession, it became dependent on the Teutonic House of Münnerstadt for centuries as Zinsdorf. Together with Burghausen, it was assigned to the Michelskapelle chapel at the top of the hill, which belonged to the parish of Burglauer. When this chapel was burnt down by lightning in 1806 and became a ruin, the churchyard on the hill, which was difficult to reach, was replaced by a cemetery near the village in 1830 and a separate church was built in the village in 1860. Today's district, which has won several prizes in the "Our village should become more beautiful" competition, no longer shows its former poor past as a farming village. Since the 1960s, the village has experienced a rapid upward trend thanks to the combined efforts of energetic local people, enterprising associations and favorable local political decisions and is now the second largest district of Münnerstadt after Großwenkheim with over 800 inhabitants.
