In 2013, the Rennsteighaus was opened in Masserberg.

The location offers a good starting point for tours on the Rennsteig with an adjacent parking lot and a connection to public transport. In the winter months in particular, you can access the cross-country ski trail directly from Rennsteighaus Masserberg, as the piste equipment is also parked here. Masserberg is one of the 13 DSV Nordic active centers in the Thuringian Forest. But there is also plenty to discover in the "snow-free" months. One highlight is the Planet Trail, which starts directly at the Rennsteighaus. Nine information boards help you to get to know and experience the solar system on the way from Masserberg to the district of Heubach. The destination is the small observatory in Heubach.
 
The Masserberger Rennsteighaus also offers guests the opportunity to use sanitary - and barrier-free - facilities such as toilets and showers, store sports equipment and find repair and rest facilities. E-bikers can also charge their batteries easily and conveniently at the integrated e-bike charging station. The bicycle garage for bicycles with electric assistance can also be used for this purpose.
