Tube ride in Rastenberg
The name Röhrenfahrt is derived from a pipeline running here from the previous century. Through this "water pipe" the healing water was led from the springs from the Mühltal to the bathhouses in the city.
The pipeline consisted of conically shaped clay pipes, which were plugged together. At road and path crossings, the sensitive pipeline was laid in hollowed oak trunks for protection, thus preventing damage.
As a geological feature, a geological outcrop with steeply uplifted brick-red red sandstone can be seen in the area of the tube drive. The red sandstone beds are steeply upright, partly overturned, overthrust and fissured. The effect of the Finnish fault is clearly visible in this rock deposit.
