Römhild
The municipality of Römhild with its 14 districts was founded on 30.12.2012. The district of Römhild (first mention in the year 800, around 1300 town charter) is picturesquely situated at the foot of the two Gleichberge mountains (642 m and 679 m). Characteristic of the townscape are the late Gothic collegiate church (1450/70) with bronze statue and tombs from the workshop of Peter Vischer, Glücksburg Castle built after 1465 and the medieval town wall. Other destinations: Steinsburg (Small Gleichberg with remains of a former Celtic settlement) and the Steinsburg Museum on the prehistory of southern Thuringia in the saddle of the Gleichberge.
