Romanesque church Teutleben
Romanesque church Teutleben
The oldest church in the rural community stands in the middle of the village of Teutleben. The well-preserved Romanesque architectural style suggests that it was built in the 12th century.
"ANNO 1586 DEN 9. JULI" adorns the baptismal font, which was made from a single piece. Unique in Thuringia, however, is the plaster screed with embossed models on the gallery, presumably dating back to the time of construction. Plant and animal patterns decorate the stone gallery. The wooden altar was last painted in 1858.
Elements from the Romantic, late Gothic and Baroque periods adorn the appearance of the Teutleben church.
