Ronneburg
Ronneburg
Ronneburg is a charming little town in eastern Thuringia. Located in the northern district of Greiz and at 280 m above sea level, it is the highest town in Osterland. Around 5000 inhabitants live in Ronneburg and its two districts of Grobsdorf and Raitzhain. The 700-year history of the town can be experienced on a tour of the town through "winding alleyways that fall and rise". On the journey of discovery through the old town, in some places the special things can only be seen at second glance. Monuments, the castle complex and the Ladegast organ are waiting to be explored. Let's go, it's worth it.
In 2007, Ronneburg hosted the Federal Garden Show together with the town of Gera. This garden show attracted around 1.5 million visitors. The Federal Garden Show gave the town of Ronneburg a landscape park "Neue Landschaft Ronneburg" with natural and artificial landscape elements. The "Dragon's Tail" bridge over the Gessental valley, the discovery tower, the climate experience trail, the exhibition of miniature winding towers and the oversized mine light on the Schmirchauer Höhe are attractive destinations for day tourists and day trippers.
