Rose Garden Sömmerda
Rose Garden Sömmerda
The Biedermeier-style rose garden adjoining the Dreyse House invites not only visitors but also locals to linger. In addition to the mostly planted roses, early bloomers, lavender and other small perennials can also be found in the beds surrounded by boxwood hedges. A bluebell tree and a trumpet tree, both fashionable trees from the Biedermeier period, can also be found here.
The garden also exhibits a limestone cross that was salvaged from the town park in 1992 and a clay corbel from the former Martini factory in Sömmerda.
Since 2015, a bronze figure by sculptor Professor Wolfgang Dreysse, representing the ancient Egyptian goddess of balance, has been located at the end of the central path. She stands for world order, truth, governance and justice.
