Red castle Mihla
Red castle Mihla
The Red Castle, built in 1581 by a line of the von Harstall family, was built on the former buildings of a farm of the archbishops of Mainz. The building, executed in the half-timbered style of the Renaissance with once surrounding farm buildings, is one of the largest castle complexes of this period in western Thuringia. Parts of the former castle park have also been preserved. In the 1930s, the castle buildings housed a central school of the female labor service. Today it is used as a retirement and nursing home.
