Rudersdorf is the southeasternmost village in the rural municipality of Buttstädt. In the almost 1100 years that the village has been mentioned, the inhabitants have experienced both good and bad times. In addition to many fires, October 14, 1806 was certainly one of the most historic days. Napoleon's regiment passed through Rudersdorf on the occasion of the Battle of Jena/Auerstedt and requisitioned food and pets.

Many small streets with renovated houses and farmsteads make up the village. An intact club life and the residents' zest for action keep Rudersdorf alive with social gatherings and well-organized events.
