Saline and local history museum Bad Sulza
From salt production to the "pill maker" in the north of the Weimar region
The Bad Sulza Saltworks and Local History Museum, located in the former saltworks tavern (built 1848-1853), was opened in the middle of the last century under the name “Bad Sulzaer Heimatstuben”. It shows the tradition of salt boiling dating back to 1046.
Visitors are given an insight into the development of the town into a health resort. On display are
- the historic convent hall
- the history of the development of the salt works and salt production
- Salt and brine products
- Pictures and documents of the bathing club and the salt works administration
- Drafts of the first spa gardens and pictures of the old drinking hall and inhalatorium
- The historic pharmacy from 1893
- Information about the profession of „pill maker“ and its pharmacy offices
