The monument in honor of the pedagogue Christian Gotthilf Salzmann was inaugurated on June 01, 1894 and is located on the southwestern side of the Sömmerda market square in front of the St. Boniface Church.

The simple pyramid is decorated with a portrait of Salzmann with an inscription of his date of birth and death.

The birthplace of the famous Sömmerda citizen Salzmann is located only a few meters away in the street Marktplatz 7. Here there is the possibility to visit an exhibition about his life and work.
