Sandor Petöfi Monument Weimar
Sandor Petöfi Monument Weimar
The sculpture by Sandor Petöfi in the park on the Ilm consists of a sculpted concrete plinth and a life-size bronze bust. The Hungarian poet and social revolutionary was a great admirer of Goethe, but otherwise had no other connection to Weimar. The monument was donated by the Petöfi-Irodalmi Museum in Budapest and erected in its current location. It is intended to serve as a reminder of Hungarian poetry. The inscription on the base reads: "Sandor Petöfi Hungarian poet and revolutionary 1823-1829".
