Walldorf sandstone and fairytale cave
Walldorf sandstone and fairytale cave
The sandstone cave, an underground labyrinth with an area of around 65,000 m² and 2,500 supporting pillars, is one of the largest man-made caves of its kind in Europe. It was created by mining a white, fine-grained sand that was used as grit and scouring sand. During the tour, you can gain a small insight into the life of the sand makers. The second part of the cave is aimed particularly at our younger visitors. With the presentation of around 30 fairytale pictures, the walk underground is also an entertaining and varied experience for them.
