Swing bridge Eutersdorf

The Swing bridge of Eutersdorf has a eventful history. Already in the 19th century plans were made for it. It was then built in 1907/1908 by the then designer, master builder and engineer Paul Moser.

The Eutersdorf swing bridge is the only Suspension bridge about the Saale and is now on the local District monument list. The Eutersdorf swing bridge is a true cultural gem. 

PURPOSE:

Originally a functional Connection, to cross the Saale and thus the two Villages Großeutersdorf and Kleineutersdorf "closer" together. It also made it easier for the Access of the farmers to the Usable space.

TYPE OF CONSTRUCTION:

First Building plans to the Eutersdorf swing bridge already existed 1870. However, it could only be built in 1907/1908. Built is the classic river suspension bridge. There is bridge access on both sides. The middle section of the bridge is the actual suspension bridge with a Span of considerable 56 meters.

The suspension bridge has a 9 meters high Metal pylons, which are based on Concrete bases are mounted. The suspension cables were installed symmetrically and anchored in concrete foundations at the bridge access points. As was customary in the past, some metal parts were riveted (not bolted). As Sidewalk the cost-effective variant with Wooden beams elected.

EXPERIENCE:

The adrenaline level when crossing the Eutersdorf suspension bridge is certainly not exactly high. But its pleasing appearancewhich Tangible cultural history and the pleasant swaying make this suspension bridge a worth seeing and experiencing.
