In Schiller's garden house, you can still experience an important piece of the cultural history of the City of Light. But it is not just the garden house with its three storeys that invites you to explore, but also the gardens, which have been reconstructed according to historical models.

The poet, historian and philosopher lived and worked here for ten years. He and his family spent the summer months from 1797-1799 in the house at Schillergässchen 2. In addition to the house, the garden pinnacle and the kitchen house can also be visited.

In the house and garden, Schiller completed his great drama “Wallenstein”, worked on parts of the dramas “Maria Stuart” and “The Maid of Orleans” and on many ballads. The old, oval stone table where Schiller often sat with Goethe to exchange ideas can still be found in the garden. The town's university still bears Schiller's name today and is a reminder of his many years of work in Jena.
