Heidecksburg Castle, the former residence of the Princes of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt, rises high above Rudolstadt. Rococo en miniature et en gros - that could be the motto for the imposing castle. Rococo on a grand scale can be admired in the unique state rooms, while the exhibition in the former court kitchen presents Rococo on a smaller scale. There, miniature constructions bring the fantasy world of the kingdoms of Dyonia and Pelaria to life. The castle is home to the Thuringian State Museum Heidecksburg and the Rudolstadt State Archives. The Thuringia Palaces and Gardens Foundation is also based here.
