Molsdorf Castle
Molsdorf Castle
Located on the southern outskirts of Erfurt in the district of Molsdorf, the late Baroque Molsdorf Palace with its park - also known as the „Thuringian Versailles“ - undoubtedly experienced its heyday between 1734 and 1748, when the Prussian diplomat and bon vivant Imperial Count Gustav Adolf von Gotter resided here in accordance with his life motto „Vive la joie“ (Long live joy).
The „Castle of the Year“ title, awarded annually by the Thuringian Palaces and Gardens Foundation, went to Molsdorf Castle in 2015.
Molsdorf Castle attracts many visitors every year with a varied program, from guided tours of the castle and park to lectures, concerts and special exhibitions.
