The Torgau Castle Chapel is the first Protestant church building and was consecrated by Martin Luther himself on October 5, 1544. Its architecture still reflects the new principles of Protestant church doctrine today. The architecture of the Torgau Castle Chapel was the model for other Protestant church buildings. The pulpit has a central position in the room, with the Word of God taking center stage. The pulpit's pictorial motifs and color scheme can be traced back to Lucas Cranach the Elder. Above the altar, in the form of a simple communion table, the organ is effectively placed and emphasizes the great importance of church music. Johann Walter composed a seven-part motet for the inauguration. The present organ, built in 1994 by master organ builder Peter Vier, is characterized by a mid-range sound, which makes the music of the Reformation period particularly well heard. Various church concerts, organ, choir or early music are on the calendar of events. Small organ recitals can also be booked for tour groups on other dates by prior arrangement.

The services of the Protestant parish take place here every Sunday at 10:30 am from Thanksgiving to Pentecost. Both names - castle chapel and castle church - are therefore correct.
