The Schleizer Schlosspark in its current form was probably laid out in the middle of the 19th century for the neighboring castle of Count Heinrich von Reuß. Until the Second World War, the castle park was a large meadow. The castle park has always been open to the public and was often used for concerts by the town band. After 1945, a memorial was erected for the citizens of the former Soviet Union who died in the Second World War. At the end of the 1990s, the castle park was completely redesigned. The war cemetery was newly laid out. The fountain, the stelae of the pergola and the grave site form concentric circles that are intersected by paths and waterways.

Today, the castle park is an important, listed green area in the center of Schleiz that shapes the cityscape. The park serves as a source of recreation, relaxation and joie de vivre for all generations.
