Schönburg
Schönburg
Schönburg Castle was built by the Thuringian Count Ludwig the Knight. According to legend, he had the castle built out of love for Adelheid, the wife of the Count Palatine of Wettin.
She lived on the opposite bank in Goseck Castle. What became of the love between Ludwig and Adelheid, you can best ask during a guided tour.
The construction of the former bishop's castle Schönburg dates back to the 12th century. From here, there is a rewarding view over the Saale valley and of Goseck Castle.
