Schöps
Schöps
Schöps with the district of Jägersdorf is a municipality in the south of the Saale-Holzland district. Located around ten kilometers south of Jena between the Saale-Ilm-Platte and Thüringer Holzland, the municipality is crossed by the Saale river. As an area of Germany with a particularly favorable climate, the middle Saale valley attracts visitors with a mild spring, a hot summer, a long and warm autumn and a mild winter.
So it is ideal to be on the road a lot! The towering high above the Saale Shining castle is easily doable as a day trip. Exciting and worthwhile are the medieval Hunting ground Rieseneck with underground stalk and the unusual castle Duke's Chair of the Dukes of Saxony/Altenburg in the Kleineutersdorf forest. The Kahla porcelain city has an old town center worth seeing with an almost completely preserved town wall and lovingly restored farmhouses.
