Schöten Promenade
Schöten Promenade
Natural park with highlights
At Schrönplatz, immerse yourself in the historic Schötener Promenade. Be impressed by the old trees and the natural paths and enjoy an eventful walk along the Schöten stream to the district of Schöten.
The paths are lined with various deciduous and coniferous trees and a small pond with a natural stone fountain and the legendary Bonifatius spring provide cool refreshment.
In summer, the promenade is pleasantly fresh thanks to the large, shady trees. The light shining through the crowns of the trees allows you to admire a wonderful play of colors ranging from dark green to light yellow. In winter, on the other hand, the promenade looks enchanted when all the greenery and trees are covered in ice and snow.
Benches along the way invite you to linger and relax on the promenade, which has been a protected landscape since 1970. The paths are frequented by walkers, nature lovers and cyclists. Use the Luther Trail or the Napoleon Cycle Path for a tour to Jena.
Legend of the lindworms of Schöten
On your way through the promenade, you will also come across the two lindworms of Schöten, which once terrified the village. A brave young squire set out to kill the lindworms and cut off both of their tails - you can also marvel at the sculpture of Squire Veit in the Schöten promenade today.
