Old mountain refuge„

At 493.9 m above sea level, the Alte Berg is the highest elevation in the Hainich and is located in the Wartburg district in western Thuringia (Germany).

The Alte Berg is located in southern Hainich in the north-easternmost part of the Wartburg district, close to the district border with the Unstrut-Hainich district, between the villages of Craula in the east and Hütscheroda in the south and Berka vor dem Hainich in the west. Eisenach is about 10 kilometers to the southwest and Bad Langensalza 13 kilometers to the east.
