Schwallungen is a municipality in the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen in Thuringia. It belongs to the administrative community of Wasungen-Amt Sand, which has its administrative headquarters in the town of Wasungen.

The unified municipality of Schwallungen consists of the districts of: Schwallungen, Schwarzbach, Zillbach and Eckardts.

It was founded on 12.01.1994, has a municipal area of 39.80 km² and currently has 2240 inhabitants.
