"By the houses of Sigiburg" is the translation of the name Sigeburgehusen, which appears in documents from 1126 and 1131. These were donations to the monasteries of Kitzingen and St. Stephan in Würzburg. The village of Seubrigshausen in question is probably much older. Finds from the Neolithic and Hallstatt periods prove that the area was settled thousands of years before the birth of Christ. Villages with the suffix "-hausen" indicate that they were founded in the 8th or 9th century and are usually named after noble landowners.
In 1277, three Schwinge brothers from Seubrigshausen are named in a document of the Wildberg count. The counts' possessions, possibly including Seubrigshausen, pass to the Hennebergs, who secure the lordship in 1316 after a brief interlude with the Brandenburgers. In 1354, Eberhard von Württemberg inherits the estate, which he immediately sells to the Bishop of Würzburg. Like many other former Henneberg villages, Seubrigshausen is ruled by the prince-bishop until 1803.
The Teutonic Order in Münnerstadt, the nunnery of St. Johanniszell near Sulzfeld and the Maria Bildhausen convent all have property in Seubrigshausen. There is even a "Father Economist" from the Cistercian monastery of Maria Bildhausen living in the village with other conventuals. Originally, Seubrigshausen was probably not under the ecclesiastical jurisdiction of the mother parish of Wermerichshausen (perhaps the parish of Sulzfeld), but from 1452 at the latest there is a fief of this parish. The village remained a branch of this parish until 1799, when the curacy and later parish of Seubrigshausen was established. There was already a small church in the village around 1500, which was renovated and redesigned from 1601 and extended in 1713. After this church was demolished, a new, larger church was built in 1830 using stones from St. Peter's Church in Bildhausen, which was extended in 1891.
The Peasants' War (1525), the Margraviate War (1552) and the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648) devastate the land and decimate the population considerably. In 1742, 26 houses, barns and outbuildings burn down. After 1814 Seubrigshausen is Bavarian. A brewery is erected and a school built. A forest corporation, threshing cooperative and loan association are established, as are a post office and a kindergarten. After the Second World War, land consolidation, sewerage and road construction followed, as well as the construction of a new school building. In the meantime, the school building was demolished and the children from Seubrigshausen went to school in Münnerstadt. In 1971, the local council and citizens reluctantly agree to the incorporation into the town of Münnerstadt on January 1, 1972. Building areas are designated and developed, the local road to Wermerichshausen and inner town roads are extended, sports fields are created and the DJK builds a sports home. A community center is built to house the fire department and Raiffeisenbank. Seubrigshausen is connected to the sewage treatment plant in Poppenlauer and farm roads are prepared. The old settlement "bei den Häusern der Sigiburg" has become a modern, lively district.
