Solsdorf
Solsdorf
Solsdorf, located to the north of the town of Königsee, was probably founded in the 11th to 12th centuries. The village lies at the foot of a 500 m high mountain range, nestled on sandy, limestone and clay soil. Like most villages in the area, the people who lived from farming and forestry had to pay considerable taxes and interest to the Paulinzella monastery. The Thuringia Trail leads through Solsdorf, via Thälendorf to Bad Blankenburg and via Hengelbach to Paulinzella. The monastery cycle path leads from Leutnitz via Solsdorf and Hengelbach to Paulinzella, past the Romanesque monastery ruins and hunting lodge to Königsee. In further extended walks through the nearby forests, those seeking relaxation can also hike to Stadtilm, Ehrenstein, Sundremda or Rottenbach to the outdoor pool by the forest.
