St. Anne's Church
St. Anne's Church
St. Anne's Church is the „miners“ church" in Eisleben's Neustadt district.
The colorful Renaissance coffered ceiling and the stone picture Bible by Hans Thon Uttendrup from Münster are particularly impressive and of great art-historical value. Adjacent to the church is the Augustinian hermit monastery with its Frankish gables. These gables house the original monks' cells. Martin Luther, as district vicar of the Augustinian order, was certainly present at the consecration in May 1516.
The monastery was dissolved in 1523 and the Annenkirche became the first Protestant church in the Mansfeld region (Caspar Güttel - last prior of the monastery and first Protestant pastor).
In the years 2007-2017, the monks' cells from the 16th century were uncovered and made accessible, and a modern community center was created with the Rinckart Hall and various renovation measures.
