The church, which is dedicated to St. John the Baptist, forms the center of the village of Kefferhausen in the town of Dingelstädt. The church was built from 1688, as the original church was destroyed in the 30 Years' War. It was rebuilt to its present form between 1919 and 1921. The village green and the almost 400-year-old village lime tree are located in the immediate vicinity.
