Apolda Town Hall
Apolda Town Hall
Old Savings Bank
The Stadthaus was built between 1908 and 1910 on behalf of the municipal savings bank. In addition to the municipal savings bank, the town hall also housed the registry office before it moved to the current GlockenStadtMuseum building.
The striking double portal is a reminder of its dual use. Above the smaller one is a multiple depiction of Eros, the god of love. Above the large portal on the right-hand side is a carved stone depiction of the prodigal, the miser and the goddesses Fortuna and Sapientia.
Today, the building is used by the town council. It has currently moved to Apolda Castle as the town hall is being renovated.
Sound of bells
Apolda's most famous carillon is located on the side facing the Brauhof. Inaugurated on June 31, 1999 during the first ringing of the world bells, it plays two melodies a day at 9:55, 11:55 and 16:55.
