Town Wall Tower 3 is one of six preserved towers that can be found along the historic town wall of Sömmerda. Tower 3 is located in the central part of the former town boundary, a short distance from the pedestrian zone.

The wall, its towers and gates as well as the tower of the St. Boniface Church formed the town fortification of Sömmerda in earlier times. This was supplemented in the west by the Unstrut as a natural barrier.

Today, the city wall tower is used as an exhibition space. The themes and contents of the exhibitions may vary.
