Der Stadtmauer Turm 5 ist einer von sechs erhaltenen Türmen, die entlang der historischen Stadtmauer Sömmerdas zu finden sind. Turm 5 befindet sich am südlichen Teil der ehemaligen Stadtgrenze nicht weit entfernt vom einstigen Neutor, das Einlass in die Stadt gewährte.

The wall, its towers and gates as well as the tower of the St. Boniface Church formed the town fortification of Sömmerda in earlier times. This was supplemented in the west by the Unstrut as a natural barrier.

Today, the city wall tower is used as an exhibition space.
