The former residence of the Dukes of Saxe-Weimar and Eisenach is a place steeped in history. It formed the cultural heart of the city for several centuries. The art-loving Ernestines lived and worked here for almost 400 years in the company of important poets, thinkers, artists and composers.

The castle is currently being renovated and gradually made accessible to visitors again. The Poets' Rooms have been open to the public on guided tours since 2020. By the time it is scheduled for completion before 2030, there will not only be a completely redesigned exhibition that incorporates room sequences previously inaccessible to the public. As the new living center of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar, the palace will also develop into a center for visitors, debate and education. Exciting stories that took place in front of and "behind" the scenes in the palace can be experienced after the reopening, as can discussions about current issues.
