The Kelbra dam, behind which the Kelbra flood retention basin, the so-called Kelbra reservoir, is located, is a dam built between 1962 and 1966 on the Helme in Saxony-Anhalt. Its reservoir/flood retention basin, which is also located in Thuringia, is around 6 km² in size. In summer, the reservoir offers water sports facilities and in the fall you can watch the crane migration.
