Kelbra lido
Kelbra lido
The Kelbra reservoir is the largest lake in the Südharz Kyffhäuser region and is located directly at the foot of the Kyffhäuser mountains. With its lido, the Kelbra reservoir invites you to swim from May to September. Bathers can choose between the textile and nudist beach, while a large sunbathing lawn invites you to relax. There is a water slide and various play equipment for children.
A barbecue and campfire area with a covered hut can be booked for family, group or club evenings. A campsite right next to the lido also offers overnight accommodation. For water sports enthusiasts, the Kelbra reservoir also offers ideal conditions for surfers and sailors, with a harbor facility with summer and winter berths and a pier. The local sailing club Kyffhäuser e.V. organizes regular regattas on the Kelbra reservoir and tours on the club cutter in the summer months.
The Kelbra reservoir was created for flood protection and extends in the north of the Kyffhäuser Nature Park into the Goldene Aue, between the towns of Kelbra, Berga and Auleben. With around 600 hectares of water and extensive reed beds and meadows, the lake has developed into an internationally important breeding and resting area for over 300 bird species and is a European bird sanctuary. A special spectacle is provided by the thousands of cranes that rest around the reservoir every year in the fall on their way south. There are various observation points on the banks of the Kelbra reservoir: On the south side, right next to the campsite, there is a bird observation station with a platform around 3 meters high and on the east side, directly between Kelbra and the reservoir, there is a species protection and observation tower that offers an impressive panoramic view of the reservoir.
