Student house at Philosophenweg
Student house at Philosophenweg
In 1927, the Jena Student Aid Association awarded the contract for a student house to the active construction studio of the State University of Crafts and Architecture in Weimar, which was headed by the two professors Otto Bartning and Ernst Neufert. The cubic reinforced concrete skeleton building with a flat roof and red brick façade blends harmoniously into the surrounding park of the Prinzessinnenschlösschen. Structural innovations include the pivot windows and universal benches. Inside, the dining rooms, café, event hall and function rooms are largely original.
