Sulzer See in the north of Erfurt is the first of the Erfurt lakes. Located between the gravel works and the A 71, it is 56 hectares in size and will be enlarged to 63 hectares in the future. With an average depth of 10 meters and a predominantly renaturalized shore, it offers plenty of space and protection for animals and plants. Gravel is currently still being extracted here, but in the near future the lake will only be used for nature conservation.
