Thälendorf
Thälendorf
Thälendorf, a district of the town of Königsee, lies in a friendly side valley of the Tellbach valley at the point where 4 valleys meet, the northern one leading to Nahwinden, the eastern one to Keilhau, the southern one to Leutnitz and the western one to Solsdorf. The listed church, built in 1750 and extended in 1836, was renovated in the 1990s, as was the vicarage, thanks to the private commitment of the pastor, who works in Thälendorf and Solsdorf on a voluntary basis. A number of hiking trails allow you to explore the forests in the surrounding villages such as Solsdorf, Leutnitz, Großgölitz and Storchsdorf, where you can enjoy the peace and beauty of the Thuringian Forest. The Thuringia Trail takes you east to the Baro Tower, Greifenstein Castle and Bad Blankenburg and west via Solsdorf and Hengelbach to Paulinzella, a town known beyond the borders of Thuringia, with its Romanesque monastery ruins, the museum on the history of the monastery, forestry and hunting in the hunting lodge, the "From stone axe to chainsaw" exhibition in the forestry office and a herb garden below the monastery ruins.
