Themar
Themar is a small town in the south of Thuringia, located on the upper reaches of the Werra. The town has around 2800 inhabitants and belongs to the district of Hildburghausen. Themar is known for its seven towerswhich bear witness to the town's medieval fortifications. The town has a long history dating back to the 8th century. It was part of the county of Henneberg and later of the Duchy of Saxe-Meiningen. Themar has a rich culture and offers its visitors many sights, such as the Osterburg, the Town hall, the City church or the Museum of local history. Themar is also an ideal starting point for hiking and cycling tours in the surrounding countryside, which is characterized by meadows, forests and mountains.
