Thuringian State Chancellery, former electoral governor's office
The building of the electorate's governor's office was built as a baroque palace from 1711-1720 according to the plans of the master builder Maximilian von Welsch. For a long time, the fate of the city and the country has been decided in this house. In October 1808, for example, a meeting of Goethe with Napoleon took place here. Since 1995, the building has housed the Thuringian State Chancellery with the seat of the Thuringian Minister President.
The imposing building is located on the edge of the city center directly at the Hirschgarten.
