Tourist Information Lutherstadt Eisleben
Anyone following in the footsteps of the Reformation in Central Germany starts in the Lutherstadt Eisleben. This is where Martin Luther was born and baptized. At the end of his eventful life, he returned to Eisleben, where he also died. As part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Luther memorials with the birthplace, baptistery and death house in Eisleben convey the life and work of the reformer. However, this is only one part of this historic city. Long before the Reformation, the Cistercian convent of Helfta was established as a place of religious worship. Today, the active convent on the Romanesque Road is once again a center of spirituality and mysticism.
Mining, especially the extraction of copper slate, also left its mark on Eisleben. Visitors will find exciting monuments of industrial culture in the immediate vicinity. The tourist information office on Eisleben's market square provides on-site advice on all travel topics and puts together individual offers. Various city and event tours can also be booked here and tickets for events and souvenirs can be purchased.
