Neustadt is romantically situated on the southern slope of the Harz Mountains, surrounded by beautiful mixed forests, which provide clean air and a special climate. The climate is highly recommended for those suffering from respiratory diseases, for circulatory rehabilitation and for those seeking relaxation. Neustadt was declared a climatic health resort in 1890 and is located at the foot of Hohnstein Castle (1120).

The townscape is dominated by the old town gate (1412) with its museum of local history, the imposing Roland statue at the Ratskeller (1730), numerous half-timbered houses and St. George's Church. You can admire the beautiful nature around Neustadt on the well-signposted cycling and hiking trails as well as on the spa trails and really switch off from the stress of everyday life.
