Tröchtelborn has 304 inhabitants and is situated in the valley between Fahner Höhe and Seebergen or Burgenland. The total area of the district is 567 ha. The village was first mentioned in a document together with Friemar between 375 and 531.

In recent years, the village image has changed positively thanks to the great efforts of the residents and the village renewal program.

As part of the village renewal project, all the streets in the village have been resurfaced to the satisfaction of the residents. The village green and the welcome board on Lindenstraße as well as the newly designed square next to the local history museum stand out positively.

At the end of 2010, the municipality succeeded in being connected to the public sewage system. Furthermore, in the last 10 years, planting measures (including fruit trees) have been carried out around the village and the construction of rural paths has been supported.
