The easternmost village of the Wartburg district is Tüngeda. The name first appears in a deed of donation written by St. Lul between 775 and 786 without a date. Tüngeda Castle was built in 1582 by Hartmann von Wangenheim and used to serve as a knight's estate. Later rebuilt in Renaissance style and extensively renovated in the 1990s, it is now privately owned. Built around 1840, it is the only windmill in the area and offers a beautiful photo opportunity all year round. It can be visited annually on Mill Day with an expert guide. East of Tüngeda, on the edge of the wind farm grounds, stands a "three-circle stone" at the three-circle corner - this is where the Unstrut-Hainich district, the Wartburg district and the Gotha district meet.
