This spot has been a prominent resting place since the turn of the century. Sports enthusiasts from the surrounding communities used to meet here to take a break. It was first erected in 1928 by the Craula gymnastics club.

In 1995, hikers from the Rennsteigverein 1896 e.V. OG Hainich-Rennstieg erected a new covered seating area on the old base, which was renewed by the National Park last year.
