The Unstrut Railway from Naumburg to Artern has an important function for public transport and the economic and tourist development in the lower part of the Unstrut Valley between the Saale, Hoher Schrecke and Kyffhäuser mountains. Passenger trains, freight trains and also many special trains run here. The Interessengemeinschaft (IG) Unstrutbahn e. V. (Unstrut Railway Interest Group) wants to enter into discussions with all stakeholders in the Unstrut Valley and strives for cooperation in order to keep the Unstrut Railway running. The association organizes seasonal services on the section of the line in the Kyffhäuserkreis district of Thuringia, which is currently not regularly operated.
