At the source of the Unstrut
Dingelstädt is the town at the source of the Unstrut. The source of the Unstrut rises in the village of Kefferhausen and lies 386 m above sea level. The town is located on the western edge of a hollow in the upper Unstrut valley and is framed by the gradually rising heights of the shell limestone plateau of the upper Eichsfeld. The river "Unstrut" and the numerous small tributaries are characteristic elements of the habitat of the five villages of Dingelstädt, Helmsdorf, Kefferhausen, Kreuzebra and Silberhausen. After 192 km, the Unstrut flows into the Saale near Naumburg as a water-rich tributary. The area around the source offers all cyclists and hikers seating for resting, picnicking and lingering. Children can let off steam in the playground. The popular Unstrut Cycle Path, which is known for its beautiful nature, tranquillity and impressive scenery, also begins here.
