Unterbreizbach in the potash region
In the northern foothills of the Kuppenrhön is the unified municipality of Unterbreizbach with its 8 districts. Here, the natural volcanic mountains form an exciting contrast to the "white mountains", which can already be recognized from a great distance. These were created together with a special industrial culture by the local potash mining.
For decades, Unterbreizbach, Sünna, Räsa, Pferdsdorf with the farm communities Deicheroda, Mosa, Hüttenroda and Mühlwärts - the oldest places are more than 1000 years old - belonged to the border communities on the sidelines. Today, the proximity to the major centers of Bad Hersfeld and Fulda in Hesse or Eisenach in Thuringia is a particular advantage. The central and natural location of the municipality and the good connection to the road network make Unterbreizbach with its districts an attractive location for industry and tourism. The unified municipality offers the starting point for numerous hikes over the gently rising heights and through charming valleys in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Rhön. An extensive network of hiking and biking trails invites you to exercise and experience nature. The premium hiking trail "Extratour Keltenpfad" (17 km) around the Öchsenberg (627 m) and the Dietrichsberg (668 m) is recommended. In addition to the Celtic history, other traditions and historical traces characterize the region.
Old trade routes such as "Antsanvia" led, for example, through the river valley of the Ulster. Well preserved half-timbered houses show the special charm of the places.
