Unterwellenborn
Unterwellenborn is best known for the Maxhütte steelworks. As a municipality, Unterwellenborn also offers tourist attractions. This year, the Könitz local history museum with its permanent exhibition will be presented in new splendor. Attractions such as a wide water slide, underwater lighting and massage benches as well as a children's pool with lots of fun play elements have been awaiting visitors to the outdoor pool since 17.07.2010. From the striking observation tower at the Kulmberghaus with the famous "Twelve Castles View", guests can take in the Thuringian landscape. Signposted hiking trails from all parts of the town lead to the charming area around the "Stone Chronicle", as Saalfeld is often called. A variety of routes lead to attractive excursion destinations, such as the famous fairy grottoes, the legendary Heidecksburg castle, but also to Pößneck and the Thuringian Slate Mountains.
The municipality of Unterwellenborn and its surroundings have something to offer every visitor in many different ways.
