Vachdorf
Vachdorf is a municipality in the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen in Thuringia. It belongs to the Dolmar-Salzbrücke administrative community, which is based in the town of Kühndorf. Vachdorf is located on the southern slope of the Dolmar, an extinct volcano which is the highest elevation in the region. The municipality has around 800 inhabitants and covers an area of 9.6 square kilometers. The history of Vachdorf dates back to the Middle Ages, when it was a settlement of the Franconian colonization. It was first mentioned in a document in 837. known for its half-timbered houses and its 15th century church, which has a valuable altar. Vachdorf is a popular starting point for hiking and cycling tours in the charming landscape of the Dolmar region.
