Guardhouse
Guardhouse
The guardhouse was erected in 1735 to improve control of the fortress entrance. From here, the drawbridge to Ravelin Peter and thus the main access to the Petersberg city fortress could be secured. Ravelins are independent structures located between two bastions in front of the fortress wall. The guardhouse was used for military purposes until the beginning of the 20th century, after which it was used as a residential building. During the last renovation in 2000, the extension on the south-west side was added.
